Third place finish at North Georgia

Knoxville, TN - (April 4, 2010) After a disappointing showing at Boyds Speedway several weeks ago, it was regrouping time for Billy Ogle Jr. and the Mike Kittrell Motorsports team. The team headed to North Georgia Speedway and the Southern Regional Racing Series.

Thirty-five entries were on hand at the 1/3-mile clay oval. Randy Weaver set fast time for the event. Ray Cook won the feature with Weaver finishing second and Billy finishing in third.

Up next for the team is the Charles Trammell Memorial NASRA race at Tazewell Speedway on April 10.

Billy survives early crash for Tazewell win

Knoxville, TN (April 11, 2010) - In a wild race at Tazewell Speedway, Billy Ogle Jr. survived an early crash to take home the win.

While Billy was battling to get inside the top 5, contact with another car sent Billy spinning in turn 2 and was collected by Vic Hill and others. The contact from Hill sent Billy to the inside wall. After surveying the damage, it appeared the only damage was to the fender bracing that had broken off.

Billy restarted the race at the rear. A number of cautions in a crash-filled race kept Billy in the race until he began a charge to the front. He quickly worked his way to second place with a daring move in turn 4 passing both Tommy Kerr and Mike Weeks on lap 23. Billy chased down race leader Rick Rogers and passed Rogers for the lead on lap 36 of the 50-lap race. From there, Billy ran away from the field as the race continued under green.

Billy's next race will be at Boyd's Speedway and the debut of the Volunteer Racing Series on Friday, April 16.

Third place finish at VRS opener

Knoxville, TN (April 29, 2010) - The first race for the new Volunteer Racing Series took place at Boyd's Speedway on Friday night. Car owner Mike Kittrell is one of the series' owners and has played an important part in maintaining super late model racing in the area. So the whole team was looking forward to the first race.

The night started off great for Billy and team as he was awarded fast time out of 26 cars with a lap of 14.492 seconds. Mike Weeks posted a faster time, but was not allowed to keep his time as we qualified out of turn.

Billy went on to win his heat race and drew a "3" to start the 40-lap race from the 3rd spot. Billy maintained third place for the first half of the race. As race leader Ronnie Johnson and second place Randy Weaver closed in on slower traffic. On lap 26, Billy passed Weaver for second. Weaver reclaimed the position a few laps later. Johnson and Weavee finished 1-2 with Billy coming in at third.

Plans for this coming weekend are currently undecided.

One win and one 3rd place finish

Knoxville, TN (June 1, 2010) - Racing resumed in the Volunteer Racing Series with a pair of races at Boyd's Speedway and North Georgia Speedway.

Thirty cars entered the Boyd's race on Friday night. Billy won heat race #2 to earn the outside, front row starting spot alongside Randy Weaver.

The start of the 4-lap race saw Billy quickly take the lead over Weaver. Ronnie Johnson settled into third. Weaver slowly reeled in Billy and took the lead away on lap 18. Billy stayed close behind and held off Johnson for second. Weaver held the lead until lap 29 when he slowed on the track for a mechanical issue. That handed the lead back to Billy where he held off Johnson to win the race. It was later revealed the rear end from Billy's #201 broke as Billy came out of turn 4 to take the checkers.

At North Georgia, Billy finished second in heat race #2 to start the race in 5th. Billy worked his way past Mike Weeks and Tony Knowles to finish 3rd. Billy now sets second in VRS points just 8 points behind Ronnie Johnson.

Billy and crew now set their sites on the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series race at Tazewell Speedway on June 4th.

Fourth place at Tazewell

Knoxville, TN (June 5, 2010) - One of the most anticipated races of the year for Billy is the annual Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series visit to Tazewell Speedway. Being on a hot streak, Billy and crew were definitely looking forward to this year's edition.

Billy won his heat race and started the 75-lap race from the 4th starting spot.

Racing, early on, in the main event was furious. Billy was running third early in the race, but a restart following a caution shuffled the field. Billy quickly got shuffled back to 5th place on a restart and fought back to take 4th. Before the halfway mark of the race, the track locked down and very little passing took place. Brad Neat held off Steve Casebolt for the win with Scott Bloomquist finishing third and Billy finishing close behind in 4th.

Rough night at The Mountain

Knoxville, TN (June 15, 2010) - With no other events in the area, Billy and crew made a rare appearance with the Southern All-Stars series at Mountain Raceway in Maryville, Tennessee.

Billy qualified third out of 22 cars to lock himself into the 50-lap main event. But the theme of the night was rough track conditions.

Track officials tried their best to provide a fast track on a hot night in East Tennessee. But the track continued to come apart throughout the entire night. With 22 cars on the track, the surface ripped apart and made finishing a challenge.

Billy made an early pit stop and picked up the field at the tail. Progress through the field could not be made because of the conditions. Smoke began to come from under Billy's GRT and eventually parked the car. A pinched line from the shocks caused the smoke.

Billy will be at the three Lucas Oil races this weekend and Cleveland Speedway and the two races at Volunteer Speedway.

Mechanical woes rob good finish

Knoxville, TN (June 21, 2010) - The annual Scorcher race at Volunteer Speedway has seen its share of format changes and sanction changes. This year's event showcased two separate $10,000 to win races on Friday and Saturday night.

On Friday night, Billy started out strong by winning his heat and earned the 4th starting position for the 50-lap race. From the beginning, Billy started out strong and looked to be a contender for the win. Billy and Jonathan Davenport spent most of the opening laps battling for the second spot. The two traded the position back-and-forth. Then on lap 26, Billy developed a mechanical problem in the engine compartment and parked his #201 GRT for the night. The problem prevented the team from racing on Saturday night.

Up next for Billy and the Mike Kittrell Motorsports team is a pair of Volunteer Racing Series races in Kentucky. The series visits Ponderosa Speedway on Friday night and Lake Cumberland Speedway on Saturday night.

Third place finish at Wartburg

Knoxville, TN (July 6, 2010) - The World of Outlaws paid a visit to Tennessee making stops at Wartburg Speedway and Tazewell Speedway.

Billy posted a WoO career-high third place finish at Wartburg. Billy stayed right with the leaders, Tim McCreadie and Shane Clanton, in the closing laps on the slick track. Passing became difficult in the end and Billy held his own to take the third place finish.

With 27 cars registered at Tazewell, hopes were high of another good finish. But as Billy rolled onto the track for his qualifying laps, the rear end broke and send fluid onto the track. Billy was done for the night.

After replacing the rear end, it was on the Green Valley Speedway for the next race with the Volunteer Racing Series. Billy posted a 7th place finish to climb back to third in the series' standings.

Pair of top 5 finishes highlight weekend

Knoxville, TN (July 27, 2010) - The Ray Cook promoted Southern Nationals series made their annual visit to East Tennessee with the final two stops at Volunteer Speedway and Tazewell Speedway.

Friday night at Volunteer saw 34 cars vying for 24 starting spot. Billy turned in the third quickest time to secure a spot in the feature. Billy spent most of the race in third position. A charge by Chris Madden dropped Billy back a spot to fourth late in the race. Billy went on to finish 4th behind Jonathan Davenport, Madden, and Vic Hill.

Billy turned in the second fastest time during qualifying at Tazewell Speedway. He started on the front row alongside Chris Madden. Madden got the jump on the start and Billy found himself battling Jonathan Davenport for second. Davenport took the spot and Billy settled into third. That is where Billy finish the race, in third position.

Win at Boyd's

Knoxville, TN (August 2, 2010)- No big super late model races were on the schedule for the weekend, so Billy and Mike Kittrell Motorsports decided to take on some limited late model action at Boyd's Speedway.

Billy would take the 7th starting spot based off his finish in heat race preliminaries. When the green flag dropped, Billy quickly worked his way to the front. He passed Skip Arp for second on lap 12. Then on lap 15, Billy passed race leader Jamie Perry to become the new leader. From there, Billy pulled away and took the win.

Billy and crew will be back in action at Wythe Raceway for a co-sanctioned race with the Volunteer Racing Series and Carolina Clash series.

Great run from back to the front at Wythe

Knoxville, TN (August 10, 2010) - The Volunteer Racing Series co-sanctioned an event with the Carolina Clash series at Wythe Raceway in Rural Retreat, Virginia. Drivers from all across the region made their way to the half-mile track.

Things got off to a rough start for Billy. He failed to transfer to the feature in his heat race, but rallied to win his consolation race to claim the 18th starting spot. From there, Billy worked his way through the field during the 50-lap race. By the end of the race, Billy worked his way up to third place, which turned out to be his finishing spot for the night.

Billy and the Mike Kittrell Motorsports team will be at Florence Speedway this weekend for the $50,000 to win North/South 100.

Good start does not end well at Florence

Knoxville, TN (August 17, 2010) - The annual North/South 100 at Florence Speedway was targeted by Billy and crew several weeks ago as a race they wanted to compete in. So the crew headed up to Florence for Thursday's practice and the racing on Friday and Saturday nights.

Qualifying was the only part of the program on Friday night. The night started on the wrong foot as a problem with the radiator dumped all of the water onto the track. The crew scrambled to get the car fixed and successfully did so. Billy turned in the 3rd quickest time in his group and 6th fastest overall out of 71 entries. The top 3 cars in each heat were inverted and that placed Billy starting 3rd in heat #6 on Saturday.

Billy looked to be on his way to making the show in his heat before a late pass by Eric Wells denied a transfer position. In the B-main, Billy started from the pole and was running second to outside polesitter Justin Rattliff. Billy was pressured by Billy Moyer Jr. for the transfer spot. The two traded the position before a caution slowed the field. On the restart, Chris Wall got by both Billy and Moyer Jr. A few laps later, Billy appeared to have a handling problem and faded quickly and did not make the North/South 100. The problem was actually slung belts that came off the car. Steam rose from the car after the race. A determination will be made later in the week whether the engine suffered any significant damage or will be race-ready for the upcoming weekend.

Top 5 finish at Lake Cumberland

Knoxville, TN (August 24, 2010) - There aren't many tracks within 2 hours of Knoxville that Billy Ogle Jr. has not raced on. Lake Cumberland Speedway in Burnside, Kentucky is one of them. And after throwing the belts during a North/South 100 B-main race, it was doubtful Billy would be making this trip. But after further inspection, no internal damage to the engine was done allowing Billy and the Mike Littrell Motorsports team to make the trip to LCS.

Billy led the opening laps on heat race #1, but was passed late by Mike Marlar. Billy settled for the 4th starting spot for the feature race.

Billy ran much of the race in 4th place. But a hard-charging Victor Lee took the 4th spot from Billy late in the race. He settled for 5th place, a good finish for a first-time visit.

Race plans for this weekend are undecided at this time.

Another win, 4th place over the weekend

Knoxville, TN (August 31, 2010) - With no super late model races in the area, it was back to some steelhead racing for Billy Ogle Jr. and crew.

The first stop was at Boyd's Speedway in Ringgold, Georgia. Billy won his last time there. And this time, it was another win for Billy. He held off Jamie Perry for the win.

The second stop was the final points race at Wartburg Speedway. Billy managed a 4th place finish in the race.

This weekend, Billy will return to super late model action with a VRS race at North Georgia Speedway and a NASRA race at Tazewell Speedway.
