Career
Highlights:
1979 - At the age of 14, began by driving a 1970 Plymouth Sebring
in the street division and had a couple of top 5 finishes.
1980 - Driving
a 1955 Chevrolet in the street division, won four feature races
and finished 2nd in points at Atomic Speedway. Also picked up
Rookie of the Year honors. Made first late model start and won
a consolation race.
1981- Opened
the season by making the Hall of Fame 100 at Atomic. Competed
in the limited late model division for the rest of the season
finishing second in his first race.
1982 - Moved
to late model division and won Rookie of the Year at Atomic.
1983 - Won
his first late model race. Qualified on the pole and led 70 laps
in the Dogwood 100 at Atomic. Finished top 5 in points.
1986 - First
year racing with a full-time sponsor. Finished in top 5 in points.
1987 - Six
feature wins and 2nd in points at Atomic.
1988 - Won
first late model championship at Atomic.
1989 - Won
late model championship.
1990 - Won
third straight late model championship and won 3 major races.
1991 - Won
fourth straight late model championship and won 3 more major races.
1992 - Won
8 feature races (one being a major win) and finished 2nd in points
at Atomic.
1993 - Won
track championships at Atomic and Crossville. Won a record 19
late model features at Atomic including 8 in a row. Five wins
at Crossville including one major race win.
1994 - Won
Atomic Speedway championship with 9 feature wins.
1995 - Won
8th championship and 6 feature wins.
1996 - Busy
year highlighted by super late model championship at Atomic and
10 feature wins. Started last and moved up to 14th in first ARCA
race at Atlanta. Finished 14th in ARCA race at Charlotte.
1997 - Won
10 super late model features, won Tennessee All-Stars championship,
and finished 2nd in UDTRA non-touring series.
1998 - Won
Ray Neely Memorial 100 Hav-a-Tampa race at Tazewell Speedway.
Won 6 consecutives features at Tazewell and was voted most popular
driver.
1999 - Won
11th late model championship at Tazewell along with 10 feature
wins.
2000 - Won
12th late model championship. Posted 15 feature wins including
one Southern All-Stars win. Picked up an ISKY Cams Pole Position
award and finished 2nd in a $20,000 Hav-a-Tampa event.
2001 - Had
12 feature wins.
2002 - Drove
for Bill Reed on the UDTRA tour where he won series Rookie of
the Year and finished 9th in points.
2003 - Returned
to Vanover Racing and won 13 features and track championship at
Atomic.
2004 - Won
track championship at Wartburg and won 15 feature races.
2005 - Had
18 feature wins. The most exciting win was coming from 18th starting
spot to win 100-lap Souther All-Stars race at Atomic. Also won
a Tennessee Thunder race.
2006 - Posted
several feature wins.
2007 - After
switching rides and racing for Joe Armes and Billy Ward, won five
feature events including two Advance Auto Parts Thunder Series
races at Crossville and Rome and the Atomic Speedway Memorial
race at Mountain Raceway.
2008 - Finished
3rd in points in Advance Auto Parts Thunder Series driving for
Mike Kittrell. Posted several top 10 finishes in the World of
Outlaws Late Model Series and Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series.
2009 - Won
Tennessee Thunder DirtCar Series championship.
2010 - Won
4 races across the region driving for Mike Kittrell.
